City take victory over Sporting and Manchester City are having high hope to reach into the
last eight of the Champions League with a thrashing 5-0 win over Sporting Lisbon of the
first leg in the round of 16 tie in Portugal.
Bernardo Silva was outstanding, he scored two brilliant goals for the visitors following a clever pass from
Raheem Sterling of his second goal of the game.
In form Riyad Mahrez was also on the scoresheet once again for City with a close range goal from a great pass
from Kevin de Bruyne.
Phil Foden added third for City with a technical shot to shatter the hosts in front of the fully attendance of
48,129 fans in Lisbon.
After the break turn into the second half, Silva almost saw his hat-trick with headed goal but unfortunately it was
ruled out for offside before he combined well with Raheem Sterling to curl in to make it fifth for the visitors.
Sporting will travel to Manchester for the second leg on Wednesday, 16 March.
